For Young People
As part of the Foyer program, you’ll work with our Case Managers and Independent Living Counselors (ILCs) to help you discover what jobs and/or career paths interest you and to figure out what steps you need to take to get there. We’ll also help you to develop basic job skills by providing you with access to computer skills training, tutoring sessions, internships, and Good Shepherd’s mentoring program.
Once we have identified the career interests of our residents, staff members work to build relationships with businesses that are in those fields. We want to match you up with a local employer to further develop your job skills and advance toward your career goals.
Many of our residents also participate in the Career Club which meets each week right at the Foyer. The Club gives you an opportunity to not only learn about job search skills, interviewing, rights of the employee, etc., but to share your own work place experiences and learn from the other members.
"I feel that the Foyer will be a great stepping stone for me to be successful in society."
- Raphael, Foyer Resident
