Transfer Schools
WBCHS is a transfer school committed to helping students who have been excessively truant or have dropped out of school after enrolling in 9th grade at a high school. The school provides opportunities for young people to explore their leadership potential. The foundation of our learning community is a partnership between Good Shepherd Services and the Department of Education, as well as students, families, and community-based organizations. Our school fully integrates a rigorous academic plan with a youth development model to address student needs. Our small learning environment creates opportunities for students to achieve their personal and academic goals in order to succeed in their post-secondary endeavors.

THE EXTRAS
In order to better serve our students and guide their development we offer the following additional programs:
Saturday School
Many of our students require one or two additional courses in order to attain the credits necessary to graduate on time. Currently there are two classes offered on Saturdays from 9am to 12 noon.
Regents Prep
In order to prepare our students for the Regent exams offered in January and June teachers offer tutoring hours from 8:20am to 9:00am. Students are encouraged to attend by their Advocate Counselors and teachers. Additional tutoring opportunities are presented a month before scheduled Regent exams.
Peer Tutoring
Using the Learning to Work Internship program we have students apply to work as a Peer Tutor. On several days after school (currently Monday, Wednesday and Friday) students complete assignments and receive extra help from their peers. A teacher supervises the tutors and serve as their on site supervisor.
