Young Adult Borough Centers
Young Adult Borough Centers (YABCs) are full-time evening academic programs designed for youth between the ages of 17½ and 21, and who have earned at least 17 credits.
Our YABCs
Good Shepherd's ten YABC programs in Brooklyn and the Bronx are operated in collaboration with the DOE. The program design acknowledges that non-academic factors like family obligations, day care, and work schedules can hinder students from graduating. Students take intensive afternoon and evening classes and focus only on the courses they need to graduate.
Good Shepherd provides a range of youth development supports including: case management; counseling and crisis intervention services; resource referrals; attendance outreach; workshops; academic tutoring and test preparation; college preparation, employment readiness, and career exploration activities; job development and placement; and youth development opportunities.
