Meeting Santa
Christmas came early for some children in our after school programs at PS 79, PS 246 and our MS 45 Beacon as they and their parents spent a recent Saturday morning at FAO Schwartz. The Fields Family Foundation, longtime supporters of our Bronx programs, arranged for the legendary toy store to open early for seventy-five of our young people to meet Santa, receive gifts, play on the famous giant piano, see puppet shows, eat in the ice cream parlor, and more.
Prior to the event, the children wrote letters with gift requests, so the gifts from Santa were individualized, and each young person also received a ‘goody bag’ which included an ipod shuffle. The FAO Schwartz staff really went above and beyond to make the day special for our youth, all of whom had wonderful time.
