GOOD SHEPHERD SERVICES

Program News 2006

Fundraising in the Park

On October 17th, Good Shepherd Services' held it's Nineteenth Annual Benefit at Tavern on the Green in Central Park. The Benefit, our largest fundraising event, gave us the opportunity to recognize the contributions of Ernst & Young, LLP, and the LeRoy family, as well as to introduce our work to new friends. Ernst & Young is our partner in one of New York City's most successful mentoring programs, providing students of Adlai E. Stevenson High School in the Bronx with caring, stable adult role models for nearly fifteen years, and the Le Roy family has generously underwritten our Benefit at the world-famous venue for the past two years.

Following the tribute to our honorees by Board of Directors President Robert Niehaus and Executive Director Sr. Paulette LoMonaco, Assistant Executive Director for Residential Programs Denise Hinds took the stage to introduce program participant Latoya McFarlane. Latoya, known throughout our residential programs as a performance artist and writer of considerable talent, performed her spoken word piece ‘Daddy's Little Girl,' about the father she never knew.

In the end, it was an extremely successful evening, with a wonderful time had by all, and approximately $600,000 raised to support our work.
