Program News 2005
New Program
Good Shepherd Services kicked off the New Year by launching a new community-based program located at 462 Fourth Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Single Stop Service Center brings to this Brooklyn community a much-needed location where highly trained staff, equipped with the Self-Sufficiency Calculator and the Intake Assessment System, can help individuals and families access public benefits for which they are eligible including public assistance, Medicaid, housing and health care benefits. The program provides free legal consultation on housing, entitlements, immigration, custody and family law, employment, small business and general consumer issues, and free financial consultation on credit and debt issues, budget management and banking. In addition participants receive referrals to community-based organizations where they can receive other needed services. Single Stop will be available to community walk-ins, generated through broad outreach in our programs and in the community and to current Good Shepherd program participants five days a week for eight hours a day, The program is targeted to serve 600 people in the first year.
In the coming years we are hoping to establish additional service centers of this type in other communities where we work to benefit the children, youth and families as well as others within the community.
