New Friends and Supporters Attend Unique Museum Event

On Thursday, March 13, Good Shepherd Services held its first event for donors and potential supporters at the Brooklyn Museum of Art (BMA). GSS Board member Joseph McLaughlin, who is also a member of the Brooklyn Museum of Art Board of Directors, sponsored the affair. The event provided guests with an opportunity to learn more about Good Shepherd's work, as well as a private curator tour and presentation of the BMA's exhibit The Last Expression: Art and Auschwitz. This exhibition presented 200 works by artists who either perished in Nazi concentration camps during World War II or were among the few who survived. Retrieved from German archives, most of these works have never been seen by the general public, and featured two-and three-dimensional art created by Holocaust victims-including Jews, resistance fighters and Gypsies-who were interned at Auschwitz and other camps. The exhibition was powerful testimony to the horrific events of the Holocaust and the resiliency of the human spirit.
