Holiday Helpers
Employees of the New York Life Insurance (NYLI) Company have been volunteering with our young people for over a year, but this holiday season they are truly outdoing themselves.
Earlier this month, NYLI put on a holiday party for our After-School at PS 32 program. Children picked the names of fellow students in a ‘Secret Santa' drawing, and then made various crafts for their recipient with the help of the NYLI volunteers. Dinner, hot cocoa and cookie decorating also featured prominently, as did Christmas music and The Grinch cartoon. Many of the children in attendance had previously participated in NYLI's Junior Achievement Economics for Success workshop series.
Festivities continued after the PS 32 party. The following week NYLI took a group of our Foster Boarding Home teenagers on an ice-skating expedition at Central Park's Wollman Rink.
And finally, NYLI is also playing Santa for an impressive amount of our participants through our Holiday Gift Drive. The company has ‘adopted' 40 Foster Boarding Home youth, 13 families from our family counseling programs, and the young women in our Marian Hall residence.
Thank you to the New York Life Insurance Company and all the caring friends and partners who make the holidays special for our young people and families!
