Halloween Fun at Good Shepherd
Many of Good Shepherd's programs held Halloween celebrations for the children, young people, and families in our care. The Family Reception Center and Transitions staff hosted an outdoor Halloween party for 140 goblins, power rangers, and super heroes. The party, which was held in FRC's back yard, offered activities such as bobbing for apples and playing games, as children went from table to table trick-or-treating and showing off their costumes to staff members. Every child had a chance to paint and take home his or her own pumpkin.
The Red Hook Beacon Center at PS 15 created its own creepy carnival of Halloween activities. Kids received their candy through one of the many games that were offered, including freeze dancing and "wart on the witch." In addition to displaying their scary (and often adorable) costumes, the children could also get their faces painted. The highlight of the Halloween bash was the haunted house, a terrifying creation of the Beacon's youth leadership groups-the Pathfinders, Challengers and Leaders in Training. The young people took over an entire hallway of the school and transformed it into the horrifying home of witches and vampires for all to enjoy.
