Celebrating Community
On Thursday November 18th we held our Annual Thanksgiving Celebration at the Red Hook Community Center Beacon at PS 15 in Brooklyn. The celebration gets better and better each year and the spirit of community among Red Hook residents is strengthened. A traditional Thanksgiving meal was served for more than 500 attendees, including young people and their families from the community, public officials, and staff from the school and the Beacon. They enjoyed music, dance performances, and good food. The caterer Great Performances, not only donated all of the food, but also supplied a wonderful team of volunteers who prepared the meal and served guests with the assistance of children and youth from the Beacon's leadership teams and from South Brooklyn Community High School, our neighboring program. The event celebrated the talents and strengths of the community and was a wonderful kickoff to the holiday season.
