Busy at Barbara Blum Residence
This February was a particularly busy month for the young people of Barbara Blum Residence, our diagnostic reception center for boys located in Brookyln. Residents and staff hit the slopes at Mount Creek in Vernon Valley New Jersey, where they skied, snowboarded, and were even treated to a free lesson. It was a great opportunity for the boys to enjoy the great outdoors and take part in winter sports-activities that few of them had ever experienced.
The young people at Barbara Blum also held a celebration of Black History Month. Each resident researched a black historical figure who interested him, wrote a report about his or her life, and read it aloud. One staff member donned a Dashiki, a traditional African garment, and shared some favorite works by black poets. The residents who participated in the festivities received colorful Black History Month T-shirts.
