Beacon Community Center Hosts Thanksgiving Dinner
Thursday, November 21 marked the Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner held by Good Shepherd Service's Red Hook Community Center Beacon at PS 15. The dinner brought together approximately 550 members of the community including youth, families, Beacon and school staff, community residents, funders and public officials. Once again, the scrumptious meal was generously contributed, prepared and served by Great Performances, the NYC company that caters Good Shepherd's Annual Benefit fundraiser. The Beacon's youth leadership groups played a vital role in organizing the event, from ushering and serving to coordinating entertainment. The evening's activities included a slideshow and comedy performances by the Red Hook Players and the Pied Pipers Dance Troupe. The warm family atmosphere at the dinner was testament to the Beacon's value as a vital resource in Red Hook which brings together residents of all ages to engage in positive activities and build community.
