Good Shepherd's 2008 Annual Benefit Dinner
Our 2008 Annual Benefit Dinner takes place on October 14th from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Tavern on the Green and honors Credit Suisse and Rob Shafir, CEO of Asset Management and CEO of the Americas Region, as well as Linda Gibbs, New York City Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services.
The event gives Good Shepherd an opportunity to recognize our strong and longstanding partnership with the Credit Suisse, one of our most committed corporate partners. The Credit Suisse Foundation provides generous operating support, which gives us the flexibility to direct funds where they are needed the most, and provides funding to support our corporate volunteer program. In addition, Credit Suisse employees have and continue to serve on our Board, were instrumental in launching the mentoring program for youth in our residential programs and have participated in numerous volunteer projects from setting up computer labs in our residences, painting our facilities to organizing a carnival for youth in our foster care programs. Two annual initiatives, Reach for the Stars, focusing on work readiness issues and the YES (Youth Economic Success) Conference, which addresses financial literacy, provide a forum for deeper employee involvement and help equip our young people with life skills that will help them achieve self-sufficiency.
Deputy Mayor Linda Gibbs has been a longtime partner and friend of Good Shepherd. We have had the opportunity to work with her in her many capacities with the City - at the Administration of Children's Services, the Department of Homeless Services, and now as Deputy Mayor. She has played a significant role in addressing the needs of New York City's most vulnerable youth and families and in helping Good Shepherd and like-minded agencies to do the same. Her work has had great impact on the youth and families we serve and and we are delighted to honor her as well in October.
